As just mentioned, a select few headed over to London with Owner and Bon Viveur Dave “Red” Matheson for 48 hours of red meat and cocktails (god I love my job sometimes) before finally getting down to the nitty gritty of actually putting the brand together.
The identity needed to be beautiful and crafted without feeling too cool or aloof, contemporary french bistro rather than slick and stylised. So we focused on the craft of the typesetting, which with such a comprehensive wine list is no small job.
The fonts used all have their roots in traditional french typography and the illustrations reinforce the handcrafted rustic feel. Menus, placemats, coasters, artwork, signage, website, the list goes on and Red is very much a work in progress with, among other things, more bespoke screenprinted artwork to come. It has been an absolute pleasure to have been involved in such an incredible project.
Eat at Red, you won’t regret it, and if you do, we’ll see you there.
