BOOK

How Not to be a Boy

Robert Webb

Biography from Robert Webb of “Mitchell & Webb” fame. David Mitchells blogs are also sidesplittingly funny but there is something quite touching and poignant about Webb’s as he brutally lays himself bare. 'How Not to Be a Boy" explores the relationships that made Robert who he is as a man, the lessons we learn as sons and daughters, and the understanding that sometimes you aren't the Luke Skywalker of your life - you're actually Darth Vader.

MUSIC

The Downward Spiral

Nine Inch Nails

OK not one to help you chill out, this is angst turned up to 100% but Nine Inch Nails second album (1994) was a belter and has incredible changes of pace and musicality. Persevere with it, the pure visceral nature of it is pretty incredible… especially if you want to get amped up for a surf! Tracks have been used in numerous dark movies from Natural Born Killers (Burn), The Crow (Dead Souls) Seven (Closer). Props also goes to Johnny Cashes beautiful cover version of Hurt that is originally from this album, also well worth checking out.
