Learn. Create. Produce

It was incredible to see such a diverse section of Guernsey and Jersey's community at Jersey Opera House and Beau Sejour last week for Learn Create Produce 2015.

We blew the figures of attendance from the previous event out of the water and that was in no small part due to the quality of the speakers and the way the events came together - with both Creative Industries Guernsey and Digital Jersey getting behind both days!

The old adage goes "Never meet your heroes (as you're sure to be disappointed)"… but in the case of Stefan Sagmeister from Sagmeister & Walsh, Joachim Sauter from Art+Com and Christos Passas for Zaha Hadid Architects, that was the total opposite.

Their talks were both entertaining and massively inspiring, and they completely got the purpose of the day and interacted with all the delegates as equals. Quite frankly we're not sure how we're going to top it next year.

We were fortunate enough to be lead sponsors for the two event's as well as event organisers, and I have to say, it was an absolute blast from start to finish.

Moving the Guernsey event to Beau Sejour was a crucial decision, as it was always going to be a bigger turnout than the first event. We had a beautifully put together entrance / breakout room kitted out by wonderful interior products from Bonsai as well as an incredible installation piece produced by the students at the College of Further of Education made from hundreds of sticky notes. We also had a highly entertaining Oculus Rift demonstration from K3D which made more than a few people a bit giddy and terrified.

The interaction between the creative businesses and individuals of both islands, was wonderful to see before, during and after the event and we also had a good turnout of delegates from the UK and Europe which we aim to grow over the years.

As you can see from the photos, the event was a massive success and a great laugh.... and again a massive thank you to all the other sponsors of the event - Bonsai, Colourmonster, Soup, Blix, Dowding Signs, C.I. Adjusters, K3D, Guernsey Arts Commission, Commerce & Employment and Guernsey Chamber of Commerce.

Until next year....
