After more than a decade in the offshore financial services sector, founder Will Wakeham launched XLR to tackle two persistent challenges faced by the industry: 1. Time-consuming, repetitive tasks that drain resources and slow down productivity. 2. Staff shortages - whether through “brain drain” or other factors - make it difficult to maintain a consistently well-staffed workforce. XLR was created to bridge these gaps.

What is XLR? 

XLR is a SaaS company providing cutting-edge software solutions for financial institutions. By leveraging AI, they automate critical administrative tasks, transforming how businesses operate. The result? Greater efficiency, reliability, and dramatic cost reductions. Their tools are designed to optimise transactional activity and recurring internal processes, reducing processing times and empowering teams to focus on higher-value work. In essence, XLR doesn’t just save time - it keeps your workforce engaged and motivated. 

A suite of solutions for smarter operations 

XLR offers a range of products - Scribe, Thrive, Byte, Link, and Pact - each addressing specific pain points in financial operations. Our challenge was to develop a brand system that rationalised these products individually while unifying them under the XLR identity. 

The XLR brand: Where direction meets innovation

The XLR brand embodies technology, precision, and speed. Its visual identity is designed around ideas of direction and accuracy, with a sleek, tech-driven aesthetic that reflects the company’s innovative ethos. 

At the heart of the brand is the X icon, which features:    

- A right-hand arrow structure: Representing direction, speed, and forward momentum.

- A five-dot grid with connected elements: Using a “metaball” design style, this grid forms an arrow with a highlighted centre, symbolising focus and hitting targets. 

This modular grid is highly versatile. It can be extended to build more complex patterns, animations, or structures. These work to communicate growth and progression - perfectly mirroring XLR’s mission of connected thinking and smarter working. 

A logotype built on structure 

Even the bespoke logotype was crafted with precision. Built on the same grid system as the icon, it maintains a consistent rhythm and weight, ensuring cohesion across the entire brand.

XLR’s brand isn’t just a visual system - it’s a philosophy. The idea of “joining the dots” represents their ability to connect people, processes, and technology seamlessly.
