Seeing Red

When a client approaches you and says that they want you to create a comprehensive brand to launch a new steak house where quality is paramount and to kick things off he'll take you on a whistle-stop tour of the finest Steakhouses in London to give good research basis to draw from... well you tend to start doing cartwheels around the studio!

Most people in Guernsey will now be aware of Red, we have been fortunate enough to be part of it's journey from the start. Check out www.red.gg.

As just mentioned, a select few headed over to London earlier this year with Owner and Bon Viveur Dave "Red" Matheson for 48 hours of red meat and cocktails (god I love my job sometimes) before finally getting down to the nitty gritty of actually putting the brand together.

The identity needed to be beautiful and crafted without feeling too cool or aloof, contemporary french bistro rather than slick and stylised. So we focused on the craft of the typesetting, which with such a comprehensive winelist is no small job. The fonts used all have their roots in traditional french typography and the illustrations reinforce the handcrafted rustic feel.

Menus, placemats, coasters, artwork, signage, website, the list goes on and Red is very much a work in progress with, among other things, more bespoke screeprinted artwork to come, but it has been an absolute pleasure to have been involved in such an incredible project. Eat at red, you won't regret it, and if you do, we'll see you there.
